 The Urban Design Group - Working to create successful places where people want to live, work and play through excellence in urban design.

Founded in 1978, the Urban Design Group (UDG) is a campaigning membership organisation with over 1000 members who care about the quality of life in our cities, towns and villages, and believe that raising standards of urban design is central to its improvement.

The UDG website contains a wealth of information for anyone interested in urban design including details of urban design practices, university courses, publications and job vacancies, as well as future urban design events. Our regular email newsletter Urban Update is a one-stop-shop for urban design news, articles and blog posts.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON URBAN DESIGN 2012: CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The National Conference on Urban Design for 2012 will take place in Oxford from 18 to 20 October 2012. The theme for this year is The Value of Urban Design and we are now inviting abstracts from speakers, workshop hosts and poster presenters to present their ideas about the projects and research which supports urban design’s continued importance in these days of spending cuts and risk-averse clients.  For full details please click here.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: UDG Practice Project Award 2013

Entry is now open for the Urban Design Group’s annual practice project award. We are looking for the very best in innovative urban design being carried out in the UK and beyond.

Previous winners of this increasingly high profile award include URBED for Brentford Lock West (2012), studio REAL for Moat Lane Towcester (2012) and Atkins for the Oxford Circus Improvements (2011), amonst others.  To add be in with a chance of adding your name to this list, make your submission today.
